The Djokovic-Cobolli quarter-final (July 9, 2025) was a significant match, as Djokovic was vying for a record 25th Grand Slam title and is a major draw for television audiences. The BBC has guidelines emphasizing due impartiality across all subjects, including sports; but, apparently not for Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic.
The BBC was unable – or did not want – to show Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon quarter-final match on either BBC One or BBC Two. This decision was reportedly due to Euro 2025 match being broadcast on BBC One at the same time. As a result, the BBC chose to show Jannik Sinner’s match against Ben Shelton, on BBC Two, instead of Nova Djokovic’s match.
This left Djokovic’s match available only on BBC iPlayer, their streaming service. But for those who were trying to watch Novak Djokovic Wimbledon quarter-final match on the iPlayer, it was impossible! BBC iPlayer kept returning to the Sinner match despite selecting the correct stream! So, the BBC did not show the Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon quarter-final match on either BBC One or BBC Two or BBC iPlayer.
Shame on the BBC! Why do you have such a problem with Djokovic?
Novak Djokovic is the greatest athlete of all time and he deserves respect and consideration. And all the fans of Djokovic in the UK deserves respec too. Fans are an important part of the sports and should be treated with dignity and consideration.
