Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, announced that Usain Bolt will be the first official ambassador of the controversial “Expo 2027” project. to be held in Belgrade, Serbia’s capital. This announcement was made during Usain Bolt’s visit to Belgrade, today, June 17, 2025.
Vučić said that Usain Bolt visit was “a great honour for Serbia.”
Wait! A great honour for Serbia would have been to have a Serbian athlete as official ambassador of a Serbian event.
Serbia has numerous world-class athletes in basketball, football, tennis, volleyball, water polo… And the greatest athlete in any sport of all time, Novak Djokovic.
While there have been reports of Serbian athletes being offered roles or positions related to the Belgrade Expo 2027, it seems that no single Serbian athlete wanted to support Expo 2027 and Aleksandar Vučić. Therefore the President of Serbia hired Usain Bolt, a foreign athlete.
Oh yes, Novak Djokovic has shown support for people who protest against the ruling regime and Vučić, expressing concern about the situation in Serbia.
Novak Djokovic has shown support for ongoing protests by students in Serbia, which began as a response to the Novi Sad tragedy and evolved into a broader movement against government actions and concerns over issues like corruption and university funding. Djokovic notably wore a “Students Are Champions” hoodie during a basketball game to show solidarity.

It is important to note that recently Usain Bolt appeared in a video on Instagram, while dancing to the rhythms of the song “C’est La Guerre”, by the well-known Kosovo Albanian rapper, Capital T (real name Trim Ademi). “C’est la guerre” is a French expression meaning “This is the war“.
So, Aleksandar Vučić has finally decided. It’s a Jamaican retired sprinter who appeared in a video dancing to a Kosovo Albanian rapper’s song, who will be the official ambassador of a Serbian event in Belgrade that is expected to attract 120 countries and over 4 million visitors.
Vučić’s choice is a disgrace to every Serb and Serbian athlete who has fought for Serbia and Serbian flag.
